James Ritchie (May 12, 1815 - March 16, 1873) was an American teacher[2] and politician, who served as the fifth Mayor[4] of Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1855, and as a member of the Massachusetts Governor's Council.[3]

Death

Ritchie drowned in the sinking of the steamboat Grace Darling off of Duxbury, Massachusetts[5] his body was never found.[2]
