James Tahhan (born October 26, 1988) is a Venezuelan chef, television personality,[1] entrepreneur.[2]
History
Born in Los Teques, Venezuela, James Tahhan comes from a numerous family of Arabic-Armenian descent. Since he was just a kid, he spent many hours of his childhood in the kitchen along with his parents Mimi and Bashir. As a child, he learned a lot from one of his dad’s friends. David Abal, a neighbor and professional Chef from Galician descent, who taught him the basic abilities that a six-year-old could learn from the kitchen.
James came to the United States with his mother at the age of 13. At that time James was overweight and it was here when James started learning that his passion for cooking could go along with a healthy diet.[3]
He decided to enroll at Le Cordon Bleu University, where he pursued the specialization of international cuisine and pastries. While studying Tahhan started his own catering business, which he called Avokado.

After earning his degree, Tahhan participated in the audition for Telemundo’s morning show: “Un Nuevo Día”[4] Subsequently, he was selected and became the official chef of the network and the co-host of the show. His charisma and personality quickly allowed him to win the viewers over. Recently, Chef James and all his team from “Un Nuevo Día” won the prestigious Emmy award.[5] A testament of the great work they all perform everyday day.
He also has been invited by TV channel Utilísima to become part of one of its most important shows called “Puro Chef.” He participated on the 4th and 5th season of the show and he also conducted the special edition of Thanksgiving in the same channel. James also was part of the campaign Healthy week, an initiative of the network NBC Universal, where James spoke for the first time to the American viewer.

Among all of his interests and hobbies, Chef James also loves to write. He’s currently working on the publication of his first cooking book. He’s also the exclusive columnist of the well known Hispanic magazine: “People en Español”.
