Jamie Bennett (businessman)

Jamieson Robert Forrest Bennett (commonly known as Jamie Bennett) is a business entrepreneur from Aberdeen, Scotland.

Bennett was born in December 1971 and grew up in Aberdeenshire where he attended Turriff Academy before going onto study Engineering at the University of Aberdeen, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (honours).

In 1995, at the age of 23, Bennett founded Atlas Interactive Limited, an oil and gas technology business. Atlas pioneered the use of e-learning within the oil and gas industry and became one of the largest providers of online learning programmes internationally, with hundreds of thousands of users across 35 countries. The company created a diagnostic safety e-learning programme "Minimum Industry Safety Training" (MIST) which is used by most personnel working in the UK offshore oil and gas sector. Bennett who owned an 80 percent stake, sold Atlas to private equity company HgCapital in 2007 [1] and left the business in 2009 [2] establishing Enerco Group, an entrepreneurial investment company focused on oil and gas technology businesses.[3]

From 2010 onwards, Enerco Group, which is based in Aberdeen, has created and invested in a number of oil and gas related companies including Operational Excellence (OPEX) Group Ltd, Mintra Training Portal Ltd and Mintra Training Portal A.S.[4][5] During 2013 Enerco Group invested £3 million in the redevelopment of an office complex in the west end of Aberdeen to accommodate its growing companies.[6]

Mintra Training Portal Ltd and Mintra TrainingPortal A.S. were purchased by The Riverside Company, a private equity firm in December 2014[7] at which time Enerco Group held a major interest.
