Professor Janaka Ruwanpura is the Vice Provost (International) of the University of Calgary Canada. He is also the Director of the Centre for Project Management Excellence at the Schulich School of Engineering at the same university.
In 2007 he was honoured with a "Canada Research Chair Tier 2” in Project Management Systems.
After receiving his education from Nalanda College Colombo, Dr. Ruwanpura, entered University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and earned a BSc (Honours) Degree in Quantity Surveying. He persuaded further studies and later completed a M.S. in Construction Management from Arizona State University, and Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and Management from University of Alberta, Canada. He is also a former US Fulbright Scholar.
