Jason Hirschhorn

Jason Hirschhorn is the former co-president of MySpace.[1] He was named co-president of MySpace along with Michael Jones on February 10, 2010.[2] Hirschhorn was previously the company’s chief product officer.[3]

Hirschhorn's entry into the tech world came in 1995 when as a student he started the website design firm Mischief New Media. The company focused on building sites for major label artists. 5 years later he sold the company to MTV Networks and joined their company. He eventually became the network's Chief Digital Officer, and the youngest senior executive in MTV Networks history. At MTV, Hirschhorn was responsible for the company’s digital media businesses and interactive strategy.[4][5][6]

After MTV, he transitioned to the president of Sling Media's Entertainment Group, where he led the introduction of Sling’s video anywhere device.[7]

Media Appearances

In March 2010, Hirschhorn and fellow co-president Michael Jones appeared in articles from USA Today,[8] Financial Times,[9] and Mashable,[10] in which they discussed MySpace’s upcoming re-launch. Both executives recently appeared at TechCrunch Disrupt.[11]

Industry Awards

In 2008, Jason was honored by Crain’s New York Business’ 40 under 40, which recognizes New York’s rising media talent.[12] In 2008 [13] and 2010,[14] he was named to The Hollywood Reporter’s digital power list, which celebrates the top 50 innovators leading Hollywood's march online.

While at Sling Media, the UJA-Federation of New York honored Jason at the organization’s 2008 Digital Media Division Award Celebration.[15]

Jason also publishes Media ReDEFined, an industry newsletter for media and tech execs and insiders.[16]
