Javanshir Izzat oglu Rahimov (Azerbaijani: Cavanşir İzzət oğlu Rəhimov ; June 5, 1973 August 6, 1992) was an Azerbaijani soldier and National Hero of Azerbaijan.

Early years

Javanshir Rahimov was born in Qaşqaçay, Qakh. When he was one year old his family moved to Baku , Qaraçuxur. He finished secondary school No. 104 in Suraxanı raion.

Military service

In April 1992, Javanshir Rahimov was called on the active military service. In very short term he mastered abilities of a profession of the onboard shooter of the military helicopter. He expressed his desire to go to war as a volunteer and was appointed to MI-24 Helicopter.

Death

August 6, 1992 commander of crew of the MI-24 helicopter Ruslan Polovinko and machine gunner J. Rahimov rose in air.Two flight was successfully completed. Javanshir was wounded, therefore, the commander insisted he should stay. But Rahimov insisted that he was ready for flight. MI-24 rose air again. This time their helicopter was exposed to missile fire from Armenian forces and was shot down.[1][2][3]

He was single.
