Joselito Altarejos is an accomplished filmmaker having won several prestigious awards in the Philippines and as well as internationally. He is well known for his ground-breaking openly gay-themed film features like The Man in the Lighthouse, Antonio's Secret, Kambyo, The Game of Juan's Life, Pink Halo-Halo, Unfriend.[1]

Joselito Altarejos is currently facing legal and social complaints against him involving physical, and mental abuse.[2] He was also involved in a sensitive issue of harassment involving GMA7 actor Mike Tan in 2012.[3]

Pink Halo-Halo, the first ever long feature using Tigaonon, the language of the people of Ticao Island in Masbate was nominated for "Best Film" during the 6th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. His new film Unfriend will be distributed internationally by Fortissimo Films.[1]

He has also directed a number of television series, notably the youth-oriented POSH and the long-running 98 episode TV series Legacy on the GMA Network. In most of his television work, he is credited as Jay Altarejos and Jay Altajeros mostly reserving his full name Joselito Altarejos to his long feature films.
