Jay Stewart Hennick is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and largest shareholder of Colliers International Group, Inc.[1] He is also the Founder, Chairman and largest shareholder of FirstService Corporation[2] and the co-founder of the Jay and Barbara Hennick Family Foundation.[3]
Background
Hennick is a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in 1978 and a Doctorate of Laws from the University of Ottawa in 1981.
Business ventures
In 1989, Jay Hennick founded FirstService Corporation in Toronto.[4] In 2004, FirstService invested in CMN, Inc., a founding member of Colliers International. FirstService subsequently invested in several firms that provided commercial real estate services around the globe.
In 2010, Colliers International and FirstService combined operations under the Colliers International brand.[5] In June 2015, shareholders of FirstService completed a plan of arrangement and separated into two publicly traded companies: Colliers International Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CIGI and TSX: CIG) and FirstService Corporation (NASDAQ: FSV and TSX: FSV).
Philanthropy and community service
Jay Hennick, along with his wife Barbara Hennick, founded the Jay and Barbara Hennick Family Foundation in 2008.[6]
Hennick serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Sinai Health System in Toronto.[7]
