Lieutenant (later General) Jean Charles Romatet began his military career during World War I with the French Army in October 1912, but transferred to the French Air Services in 1916 to go on to become a flying ace credited with seven confirmed victories (4 victories with Escadrille Spa76 and 3 victories with Escadrille Spa165).[1]

Romatet rose to the rank of General during World War II.[2] and served as head of the Vichy French Air Force from 1940 to 1942.

He died in 1975.
