Jean Henri Lhuillier

Jean Henri Diago Lhuillier (born on March 24, 1969) is an Filipino businessman, diplomat and sportsperson. He is the son of the Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Philippe Jones Lhuillier and Edna Diago Lhuillier. Jean Henri is the President and CEO of PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, which operates and manages Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshop, a large pawnshop chain in the Philippines, as well as related businesses.

Education

Jean Henri graduated from Saint Mary’s College, Moraga, California, USA with a degree in Economics and Business Administration in 1992. In 2009, he completed the Owner/President Management Program at the Harvard University. He also obtained a Doctor of Humanities[1] Honoris Causa degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2013.

Career

He is the current Director and Chairman of the Board of Global Restaurant Concepts, the Philippine franchise holder of California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang's, Ihop Restaurant, Morelli's Gelato, Gyu-Kaku, and Mad for Garlic.

He is the President and CEO of Cintrée Management Services, Inc., Networld Capital Ventures, Inc., Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc., Le Soleil D’ Boracay Resort, Inc., Pawncare Services, Corp., P.J. Lhuillier, Inc. , P & EL Realty Corp., PJ Lhuillier Development Corp., Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Just Jewels Diamonds Boutique Corporation, Verite Pawnshop Corp., PJL Corporate Centre, Inc., and PJL Ventures, Inc.

He is also the Director of Cebuana Lhuillier Services Corp., Cebuana Lhuillier Rural Bank Inc., PJL Corporate Centre, Inc., DFNN.com, Hatchasia.com, Intelligent, Wave Philippines, PJL Ventures, Inc., Riche Gould Real Estate Inc., Verité Pawn Corp., PJL Leisure, Inc., Next Ideas, Inc., Enderun Colleges, Inc., and Falcor Heli Solutions Philippines, Inc.

Jean Henri is the current Vice President for External Affairs of the Chamber of Pawnbrokers of the Philippines, Inc.[2] since 1999.

He is also a commander of the 101st Auxiliary Squadron of the Philippine Coast Guard since 2005.

He is also member of the Young Presidents' Organization, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the American Management Association, the National Pawnbrokers' Association (USA), the Chain des Rotisseurs, the Green Hotels Association, the Project Management Institute (USA), the Institute for Supply Management (USA), the Public Relations Society of Americas, the St. Mary's College Alumni Association, the Direct Marketing Association (USA), and the International Association of Human Resource Information Management (USA).

He has recently become a member of the ASHOKA Innovators For The Public, the Paul Harris Society (Rotary Foundation of Rotary Int'l) and, a co-sponsor of the Lhuillier-Hess Scholarship, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Involvement in Sports

As a sports enthusiast, he supports programs that aim to develop the youth through sports particularly basketball, tennis, and softball.[3]

He is the current Chairman of the Board of the Philippine Tennis Association (PhilTA), team manager of the Davis Cup Team Philippines, the team owner of Cebuana Lhuillier Gems, and the president of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL).[4]

He also serves as the current director of Philippine Tennis Academy, team manager of Philippine Men's Softball Team and Philippine Women Softball Team. He is a member of the Professional Tennis Registry (USA), the Softball Confederation Asia, and the United States Professional Tennis Association Inc.

In recent years, he has expanded Cebuana Lhuillier sports by engaging into international sports events such as the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures and the ATP Challenger Tour. He is co-owner of the Philippine Mavericks in the IPTL[5] which brought the world's best players such as Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal among others, to the Philippines last December 2015. He also sponsored the the ATP Challenger Tour last January 2016 which featured the likes of former world number 8, Mikhail Youzhny.

Awards and Recognition

He is the recipient of the Gold Stevie Awards for the Executive of the Year for Insurance from the 2014 International Business Awards. He is also recognized with the Silver Stevie Awards for the Executive of the Year for Financial Services and for the Innovator of the Year from the same awards-giving body. He also received the Bronze Stevie Award for the Executive of the Year for Diversified Services.[6]

On June 2014, Jean Henri Lhuillier was conferred the rank of Official Knight of the Equestrian Order of Saint Agatha[7] by Minister Pasquale Valentini of the Department of Foreign Affairs in San Marino on July 29, 2014 at the Palazzo Begni, Contrada Omerelli, San Marino due to his seven years of active and consistent efforts to strengthen the bilateral relationship between San Marino and the Philippines.

He was also given the Sales Individual of the Year award from the 2014 Customer Service and Sales World Awards of the Silicon Valley Communications.[8]

He is the recipient of the 2013 Juran Medal Award[9] of the Philippine Society for Quality, Inc.

He also received the Gold Stevie Award from the International Business Awards for Executive of the Year for Financial Services and for Diversified Services.He also received a Silver Stevie and Bronze Stevie Award for the Senior Sales Executive of the Year and the Customer Service Leader of the Year categories, respectively.[10]

He was also hailed the Pawnbroker of the Year[11] in 2011 by the Chamber of Pawnbrokers of the Philippines, Inc.

Personal life

Jean Henri is married to Beatriz Lucero Lhuillier, a bronze medalist in Taekwondo at the 1992 Olympics and an award-winning gymnast. They have three sons and one daughter.
