Jeff Daniel Silva

Jeff (Daniel) Silva is a Boston filmmaker and film programmer. His most recently completed projects, Ivan & Ivana (2011) and Balkan Rhapsodies: 78 Measures of War (2008), have been exhibited at film festivals and museums internationally, including MoMA's Documentary Fortnight, The Viennale, Visions du Reel, Valdivia, Flahertiana, and DocAviv.[1] Silva has been programming cinema for 14 years at the Balagan film series, which he co-founded in 2000.[2] It is an offbeat and alternative screening series. In 2006 to 2009 he taught at Harvard University and developed the Sensory Ethnography Lab curriculum with Lucien Castaing-Taylor. The SEL is a "practice-based program of visual anthropology exploring the interstices of art, anthropology and documentary film."[3] Currently, Silva is a professor of film at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) in Boston.[4]
