Jeff Vetere (born 1966) is a former football apprentice, youth coach, Scout and Technical Co-ordinator. At the moment nobody has any clue who he works for, as he gets seen around a lot and is constantly being dragged in to rumours. Vetere is credited with an encyclopaedic knowledge of footballers and is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian.
Early career
Vetere's playing career did not extend beyond being an apprentice at Luton Town. His first serious coaching role was at non-league Rushden & Diamonds where he was brought to by Brian Talbot in 1997. He was put responsible for their newly established youth academy. Few players, however, emerged through Rushden's academy in the three years Vetere was there. The most notable was Andy Burgess who has made more than 200 appearances for the club since 1999 and is now in his second spell there.[1]
Charlton Athletic
Vetere moved on to Charlton Athletic where his official role became overseas coordinator but day-to-day involvement included working with the youth team. The full-back Grant Basey, who broke into the first team in 2007 at the age of 19, has credited Vetere with his development.[1]
West Ham United
Alan Curbishley had worked with Vetere at Charlton and brought him to West Ham United in January 2007 to work as a part-time overseas scout.[1]
Real Madrid

Vetere was snapped up by Real Madrid at the end of the 2007 season and spent four months under the technical director, Miguel Ángel Portugal, and the club's director of international football, the former FC Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Julen Lopetegui. His role was to help the Spanish club scout and sign the best talents across the world.[1] Vetere's final piece of business at Real Madrid was securing a deal for Ghana U17 fullback Daniel Opare ahead of Liverpool in January, 2008.[2]
Newcastle United
Vetere was appointed Technical Co-ordinator January 29, 2008 together with Dennis Wise as Executive Director (Football) and Tony Jimenez as Vice President (Player Recruitment) to complete a continental-style management structure working to assist Kevin Keegan. Wise and Vetere was responsible for making the initial assessment before calling in Jimenez to do the deal.[3] Jimenez left the club October 9, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Keegan and Wise further left April 1, 2009. On 11 February 2010 Vetere left Newcastle.
Crystal Palace and Aston Villa
Jeff Vetere had a brief spell at crystal palace as head scout.Before Vetere was appointed as Chief Scout of Aston Villa F.C. in November 2010.
