Jeffrey Jonathon Hyland is an American real estate businessman, president of Hilton and Hyland,[1] a real estate firm in Beverly Hills, California, and author.[2] He is one of the founding members of Christie's International Real Estate[3] and serves on the Advisory Board.

Early life

Jeffrey Hyland was born and raised in Little Holmby in Los Angeles, California.[4] He attended Cornell University, but returned to California to surf.[4] He graduated from United States International University in San Diego, California.[4]

Career

He obtained his broker license on 8 January 1975.[5]

During his early years in real estate, he became an architectural historian.[3][4] He assisted in the publication of Paul Williams,[3] A Legacy of Style by Karen Hudson[6] and David Gebhard and Wallace Neff's The Romance of Regional Architecture [7] In 1984 he co-authored the book, The Estates of Beverly Hills.[8]

He has served as President of the Beverly Hills Board of Realtors,[9] President of the Los Angeles County Boards of Real Estate,[10] and State Director for the California Association of Realtors.

Hilton & Hyland

Hyland and Rick Hilton were issued a corporation license for their real estate firm Hilton & Hyland on 26 July 1993.[11][12][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]

Former Million Dollar Listing cast member Chad Rogers, Frank Robinson's daughter, Nichelle, Ron Kass's son, Robert, Anne Heche's former husband, Coleman Laffoon, and Richard D. Zanuck's daughter-in-law, Marisa, are among Hilton & Hyland's 106 salespeople.[19]

Property sale to Teodoro Nquema Obiang

In April 2006, he represented the owner of an estate in Malibu which was sold to Teodoro Nguema Obiang.[20] According to sources, Obiang's family has stolen millions of dollars from the people of their native Equatorial Guinea.[20][21] Robert E. Williams, associate professor of political science at Pepperdine University, criticized Hyland for doing business with Obiang. However, it is unclear whether Hyland dealt with Obiang directly.[20]
