Jenny Gilruth (born 1984 or 1985) is a Scottish politician and the Scottish National Party (SNP) Member of Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the constituency of Mid Fife and Glenrothes.[1]

Gilruth is from Ceres, Fife, and has a degree from the University of Glasgow. Before becoming an MSP, she was a teacher of Modern Studies, and was head of department at a high school she taught at.

In April 2016 she was nominated as the SNP’s candidate for Mid Fife and Glenrothes in the Scottish Parliament election on May 5, 2016.[2] She won the seat with 15,555 votes, an unprecedented 54.9% of the vote, with a majority of 8,236; more than double the votes cast for second-place candidate Kay Morrison of Scottish Labour. She took over from the retiring MSP, the Scottish National Party's Tricia Marwick, who has also been Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament from 2011 to present.
