Life and career

Rain was born in Charleston, West Virginia. She is perhaps most notable for playing the character of "Sadie" in the Wes Craven film The Last House on the Left (1972).[1] Her other credits include The Abductors (1972) and Preacherman Meets Widderwoman (1973). Rain also had a distinguished career as a writer/producer at CBS. She worked in Rockefeller Center as well as the Los Angeles location.

When Rain was 34, she married Academy Award for Best Actor winner Richard Dreyfuss in 1983.[2] They divorced in 1995. The two have three children together: Emily (born in 1983), Benjamin (born in 1986) and Harry (born in 1990).

She was diagnosed with systemic lupus at the age of 28, though she suffered from it all through her 20s. Her first pregnancy exacerbated her condition so severely, she could not hold her child for two years, due to the loss of use of both of her arms.[3]

In the early 1990s, she founded a Los Angeles-based charity to benefit children diagnosed with serious illnesses named "Mother's Touch".[4]
