Jernade Miah (Bengali: জুনায়েদ মিয়া; born 6 September 1991) is an English singer-songwriter and dancer who is signed to 2Point9 Records.
Early life
Miah was born in East London to Bangladeshi Muslim parents. He is of Bangladeshi descent and has two sisters.[1] Miah has fronted his own dance crew.[2]
Career
In April 2010, Miah's debut single "Switch Me On" from the free mix tape Double Check was released, under 2Point9 Records.[2] "Switch Me On" was followed by "Rejekt", "Ima Fighter", "Hero", "In and Out" and "Carnival Girl".[1] In June 2010, performed on BBC Asian Network as Bobby Friction's introducing artist at Maida Vale Studios in London.[3] In August 2010, he performed at a party for Shahrukh Khan featuring cast and crew for his film Ra.One.[4]
In October 2010, Miah's debut album Double Check was released.[5] In August 2013, his second album 1991 was released.[6]
In February 2013, Miah released "Light Your Phones Up". He gave the track away online for free download as a Valentine's Day gift.[7] In December 2013, he was interviewed by Tommy Sandhu on BBC Asian Network as part of Bangladesh Music Week.[8] In October 2015, he was interviewed by Nadia Ali on BBC Asian Network.[9]
