Jerzy Skuratowicz

Jerzy Skuratowicz (born in 1946) is a Polish academic and diplomat.

Early life

The academic and diplomat holds a master’s degree in macroeconomics from the University of Warsaw, and a doctorate in development economics from the University of Warsaw and the American University in Washington, D.C.[1]

Career

As a distinguished academic, Mr. Skuratowicz has published over 40 publications, research papers and has expertise on transition problems in Central and Eastern Europe, and socio-political and economic problems in developing countries, including the Middle East and North Africa. He has served as Deputy Regional Director a.i., for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Africa Subregional Office for Western and Central Africa. He has also served as UNDP Country Director in the Sudan and as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan. On December 29th, 2009, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed Skuratowicz as his Deputy Special Representative for Iraq.[2]
