Jesse Asieddu Darko (born November 29, 1993) is an Austrian footballer who currently plays as a striker for Kingstonian.

Career

Early years

Born in Austria, the pacy Striker moved to England at the age of 10. His goal scoring exploits for Bromley Under-14s attracted the interest of Cardiff City when he was 16. His parents are originally from Ghana.[2]

Cardiff City

Having failed to make an appearance for the first team, Darko was loaned out to Football League Two side AFC Wimbledon on 21 February 2013 on an initial one-month deal.[3] The 19-year-old was therefore able to be reunited with former team-mates Jonathan Meades and Kevin Sainte-Luce as the trio all came through the youth system at the South Wales club under the guidance of Neal Ardley.[4] Darko made his Football League debut for AFC Wimbledon on 23 February 2013 in a 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge, coming on as a second-half substitute for Gary Alexander.[5] After helping Wimbledon secure their Football League status, Darko returned to Cardiff, where he was released.[6]

Episkopi

On 25 July 2013, Darko joined Greek Football League South Group side Episkopi on a three-year contract.[7]

After signing the contract, Darko commented on his move: "I'm glad I came to Greece, is a new experience for me, I will try to quickly adapt to a different lifestyle than what I had so far, but also in Greek gameplay. It was a big decision for me to come to Rethymnon, but I think I made a good choice and agrees to work for three years. Thanks to people who worked with them in England and helped me to show my talent and get it to transfer. I also thank my new coach and my teammates, who were very well from the first moment. Now I have to work hard to help my new team to achieve its goals." Darko later cancelled his contract with the Greek club due to personal reasons.

In December 2014, Darko returned to England, joining Kingstonian.
