Jijo Punnoose popularly known as Jijo, is a director from India. He is notable for directing two path breaking movies in the history of Malayalam cinema. He is the eldest son of famous producer Appachan. Jijo directed Padayottam in 1982 which is the first 70mm movie in India and My Dear Kuttichathan in 1984 which is the first 3D movie in India.[1]
With a star studded panel from Malayalam cinema, ‘Padayottam’[2] was a wide canvas released in 1982 produced by Navodaya Appachan. It was the first movie in India shot in 70 mm film format. The story was inspired from the novel The Count of Monte Cristo and scripted by N. Govindan Kutty. The star studded cast includes Prem Nazir, Madhu, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Sankar, Lekshmi, Poornima Jayaram and Govindankutty.
