Jim Carrington
Jim Carrington is a writer of children's literature. He was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England in February 1977 and lives with his young family in south west London.[1]
Educated in state schools in Norfolk, Carrington went on to read English at Queen Mary, University of London, and trained to teach at South Bank University. He then gained an MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University, where his work attracted the attention of Bloomsbury Publishing.[2] He currently also teaches part-time in a state primary school.[3] His novels fall within the genre of young adult fiction. He has also published shorter works, including two retellings of world folktales for younger readers as part of Cambridge Reading Adventures, a series of International Readers, a ground-breaking Primary guided reading scheme created by the UCL Institute of Education's International Literacy Centre in collaboration with Cambridge University Press.
Inside My Head was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, the UKLA Book Award,[3] the Branford Boase Award, and the Lancashire Children's Book of the Year. Carrington appeared at Hayfever, the children's section of the Hay Festival 2011.
Drive By won the James Reckitt Hull Children's KS3 Book Award 2013.
Carrington's fourth YA novel with Bloomsbury, Boy 23, a dystopian novel highlighting the consequences of a Marsh Flu epidemic, appeared in November 2015.
