Jim Wallace (born February 8, 1961 in Twentynine Palms, California)[1] is an American businessman and politician. He is a former Fishers Town Council and Hamilton County Council member in the state of Indiana. He served as the Director of Management Services under Indianapolis mayor Stephen Goldsmith and liaison to the Service, Efficiency, and Limited Taxation Committee chaired by Indiana governor Mitch Daniels.[2]
Wallace served as a captain in the U.S. Army, flying combat helicopters until leaving the service in 1987.[3] Wallace also worked at Bain & Company, Boston, Massachusetts, from 1988 to 1990.[4]
He was a candidate for the Republican nomination in the Indiana gubernatorial election, 2012.[5][6][7][8][9] On March 1, 2012 his official campaign website stated: “It is with disappointment that I announce I am suspending my campaign for the Republican nomination for Governor."[10]
Wallace is noted for founding TWG Capital, the first company to provide capital to the insurance industry based on the actuarial value of insurance premiums and commissions.[11] Wallace is also noted as the head of strategy at Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, a key architect in the Acordia IPO, merger/acquisition, and demutualization strategies that resulted in the establishment of Anthem/Wellpoint, the largest health insurer in the United States.[12]
His hometown is DeMotte, Indiana.
