João Filipe Couto Patrão (born 22 January 1990 in Esposende) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for S.C. Braga B in the Segunda Liga, as a midfielder.

Career

Patrão joined Leixões S.C.'s youth academy in 2007. He played for the junior side from 2007 until 2009. In 2009, he was signed by Leça. His first full season saw him used regularly as a substitute where he made nineteen appearances and scored one goal from midfield. Following the end of the 2009–10 season, he was purchased by Leixões who had just been relegated from the Primeira Liga. His return to Leixões would prove to be unsuccessful as he would only manage to play one game in the entire season.[1]

For the 2011–12 season, Patrão was loaned out to CA Macedo de Cavaleiros of the Portuguese Second Division. At Macedo de Cavaleiros, he was a regular in the side which finished in tenth place. In the summer of 2012, he returned to Leixões where under Horácio Gonçalves and Pedro Correia he was a regular in Leixões' starting eleven forming a midfield partnership with Fábio Santos and Luís Silva. After an impressive first half of the season, he attracted interest from several Segunda Liga clubs. On January 2013, he signed for S.C. Braga B.[2]
