Joe McKee is a London born composer and sound artist. He was raised in the Darling Ranges of Western Australia from the age of five.

Background

McKee was born in London on 3 December 1984, the youngest of two children. He moved to Western Australia with his mother, father and sister at the age of five, where he lived until he was twenty three. He began composing music at a young age, teaching himself guitar. In 2003 he formed acclaimed band Snowman with fellow immigrants Andy Citawarman, Ross DiBlasio and Olga Hermanniusson. They released three albums through Dot Dash Recordings and relocated to London in 2008. After touring Europe and releasing their third and final album, Absence, they split in 2011.

After Snowman's demise, McKee began composing under his own name for film, TV and his solo recordings . His debut solo album, Burning Boy, was released through Dot Dash Recordings in Australia (2012) and through Big Ship in the UK and Europe (2013). Since then McKee has contributed sound art installations to various group exhibitions including the L.A. based MAMA gallery inaugural exhibition.
