Joel Perez
Joel Perez is an American actor known for his work in the musical Fun Home.
Education
Perez studied acting at Tufts University, The British American Drama Academy, and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Career
Perez began his career in 2010 with a role in the national tour of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony Award winning musical In the Heights. While touring he appeared in a couple of films, including BoyBand. He eventually left the tour and appeared in a couple of original musicals at smaller theaters and in several shorts. He also made guest appearances on a couple of TV shows. In 2013, he began playing Mark, Pete, Roy, and Bobby Jeremy, one of only two parts for men, in the off-Broadway musical Fun Home. The show closed off-Broadway in 2014, and opened on Broadway in 2015, where it won five Tony Awards and continues to run successfully at the Circle in the Square Theatre. He stars alongside Judy Kuhn, Michael Cerveris, Emily Skeggs, Beth Malone, and Sydney Lucas. He also works as an ensemble member of the Broken Box Mime Theater and the Pregones Theater.
