John Henry Burton (31 July 1885[1] – 13 May 1949[2]) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham.[3]

Burton was born in South Bank, North Yorkshire. A forward, he signed for Blackburn Rovers, and made his debut in the Football League with the club.[2] He joined West Ham United for the 1908–09 season, in which he scored 3 goals in 19 games in all competitions, of which 15 were in the Southern League.[1] He then moved back to the Football League with Birmingham, but despite a return of three goals in the four Second Division games he played,[4] he was unable to establish himself as a first-team player. In October 1910, Burton dropped back into non-league football with Nelson, Cardiff City and Southend United.[2] During the First World War he made guest appearances for West Ham United.[1]

Burton died in Derby in 1949 at the age of 63.[1][2]
