John F. McGrath

John F. McGrath, Jr (1922–2007) was the designer of the first electronic railroad track scale for Union Carbide. He also designed strain-gauge testing devices for the USS Albacore (AGSS-569), the prototype hull design for nuclear submarines. He invented the high-energy X-ray collimator used on several orbiting solar observatories, as well as strain-gauge transducers used in testing early B-52 bombers.
