John III Crispo
Giovanni III Crispo the 'Strong', was the eighteenth Duke of the Archipelago, ruling from 1480-1494, when he was poisoned and murdered in Naxos, likely by unsavoury Venetian interests due to, protecting his sovereignty and duchy from Venice, in addition to; successfully protecting Salic law and Crispo family interests, against Venetian political interference, succeeded Giacomo III Crispo (r. 1463-1480). He was succeeded in 1500 by his son, Francesco III Crispo after an interregnum that began in 1494.
