John Steele Layman (born August 2, 1969) is an American comic book writer and letterer.

Career

Once an editor for Wildstorm, a branch of DC Comics, Layman turned to writing comics full-time in 2002 and mainly writes for Marvel Comics.

He has also worked on several comic books based on pre-existing licenses such as Xena: Warrior Princess, ThunderCats, as well as crossovers like Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness.[1]

Layman has written a number of creator-owned titles at Image Comics, such as the graphic novel Puffed,[2] and Chew[3][4] with artist Rob Guillory.[5][6]

In 2007, he began working as a writer for Cryptic Studios, a video game studio in Los Gatos, California.[7] He worked there until 2010.
