John Lister (priest)

The Very Revd John Field Lister MA (19 January 1916 – 23 August 2006)[1][2] was an eminent Anglican priest in the latter part of the 20th century.[3]

Lister was educated at King's School, Worcester and Keble College, Oxford. He was ordained after a period of study at Ripon College Cuddesdon in 1939 [4] and was initially a Curate at St Nicholas Radford.[5] After this he was Curate at St John the Baptist, Coventry [6] and then Vicar of Brighouse. He was Archdeacon of Halifax from 1961 to 1972,[7] when he became Provost of Wakefield – a post he held for a decade.
