John Longworth (businessman)
John Longworth is a British businessman, and has been the Director-General of the British Chambers of Commerce since September 2011.
John Longworth was educated at Smithills Moor Grammar School, Bolton, followed by bachelor's and master's degrees in science from Salford University.[1][2]
He has been a main board director at Asda, Tesco and CWS.[2]
In March 2016, he became the first leader of a major business group to back a Brexit.[3] Mr Longworth resigned from the BCC on 6 March 2016 after being suspended for breaching the BCC's policy of neutrality on Brexit [4][5]
