John Milko

John "Bud" Milko (1921-2015) was born in Philadelphia. He went to the Marines to fight in WWII. He was awarded the Purple Star Award because of a brave action made by him. When his sergeant was shot by the Japanese enemies, John had to protect his forces by fighting the enemies. John was alone against 5 other Japanese enemies but was brave enough to fight them. He killed all 5, but was seriously injured by a Japanese grenade. He survived. John was also awarded the Silver Star.
