John Millington (birth registered in January→March 1949 (age 6667)[1]) birth registered in Hull district, is an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1970s and 1980s, playing at representative level for England, and at club level for Hull Kingston Rovers, and Wakefield Trinity (Heritage #957), as a Prop, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.

Playing career

International honours

John Millington won caps for England while at Hull Kingston Rovers in 1975 against France, and in 1981 against Wales.[2]

John Millington played Right-Prop, i.e. number 10, in Hull Kingston Rovers's 11-7 victory over Castleford in the 1971 Yorkshire Cup final during the 1971–72 season at Belle Vue, Wakefield on Saturday 21 August 1971, played Left-Prop, i.e. number 8, in the 16-13 victory over Wakefield Trinity in the 1974 Yorkshire Cup final during the 1974–75 season at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 26 October 1974, and played Left-Prop in the 11-15 defeat by Leeds in the 1975 Yorkshire Cup final during the 1975–76 season at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 15 November 1975.

BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final appearances

John Millington played Left-Prop, i.e. number 8, in Hull Kingston Rovers' 26-11 victory over St. Helens in the 1977 BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final during the 1977-78 season at Craven Park, Hull on Tuesday 13 December 1977.

John Player Trophy final appearances

John Millington played as an Interchange/Substitute, i.e. number 15, (replacing Prop Roy Holdstock) in Hull Kingston Rovers' 4-12 defeat by Hull in the 1981–82 John Player Trophy final during the 1981–82 season at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 23 January 1982.
