John Outterbridge
John Outterbridge (born 1933) is an African-American artist and community activist living in Los Angeles, California.
He was the first director of the Watts Towers Art Center, and served in that role for seventeen years. His sculpture work has been reviewed in the New York Times,[1] and his work is owned by prominent museums.
Awards
In 2011 Outterbridge was named a United States Artists Gracie Fellow for Visual Arts.[2]
