John Piacentini is an American clinical child and adolescent psychologist, professor of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at University of California, Los Angeles.[1] He developed self-report measures of obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety, including the Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scales (CY-BOCS).
Piacentini is noted for his research in cognitive behavior therapy and other effective treatments for children with obsessive compulsive disorder, other anxiety disorders, tic disorders and trichotillomania.
Piacentini is currently the director of the Child OCD, Anxiety, and Tic Disorders Program at the UCLA Semel Institute. He also serves on Boards for several organizations, including, nationally, the president-elect of Anxiety and Depression Association of America,[2] the International OCD Foundation, the Tourette Syndrome Association Behavioral Sciences Consortium, the Trichotillomania Learning Center and the American Board of Professional Psychology). In addition, he is also past-president of the Society of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology.
