John Randolph (bishop of Guildford)

The Rt Rev John Hugh Granville Randolph, DD (20 January 1866^[1] - 21 March 1936) was the Suffragan Bishop of Guildford^[2] and then Dean of Salisbury^[3] in the Church of England in the first decades of the 20th century.^[4]

Randolph was born into an ecclesiastical family: his father was a clergyman, The Rev Leveson Cyril Randolph. Educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge,^[5]^[6] he was ordained into the priesthood in 1890.^[7] His first post was a curacy in Margate, after which he was Vicar of All Saints’, Westbrook,^[8] then St Mark’s, North End,^[9] before his elevation to the Episcopate.^[10] He died on 21 March 1936.^[11]
