John Stephen (born October 21, 1962) was the 2010 Republican nominee for Governor of New Hampshire.

Education

Stephen graduated from Trinity High School in Manchester, New Hampshire. Stephen earned his Bachelor of Science from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He then graduated with honors from Detroit College of Law.

Career

Prior to running for governor, Stephen served as a federal district court law clerk, Assistant Hillsborough County Attorney, New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General, Assistant Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Safety, New Hampshire Coordinator of Homeland Security, New Hampshire Commissioner of Health and Human Services, and as partner for The Lucas Group.

2008 election campaign

Stephen ran for the Republican nomination for New Hampshire's 1st congressional district. Jeb Bradley, winner of that primary, would later co-chair Stephen's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.[1]

2010 election campaign

Stephen won the Republican primary for governor with nearly a two third majority in September 2010. He lost in the general election against incumbent Governor John H. Lynch.

Personal

Stephen, his wife Jenny, and two daughters, Nicole and Hannah live in Manchester, New Hampshire.
