John Turner (bishop)

The Rt Rev John Matthias Turner, DD,^[1] MA^[2] was an eminent Anglican priest ^[3] in the first half of the 19th century.^[4] He was Vicar of Abingdon^[5] then Rector of Winslow^[6] before being elevated to the Episcopate as Bishop of Calcutta in 1829. He died in post in the summer of 1831 and was interred on 8 July^[7]
