John Turner (bishop)

The Rt Rev John Matthias Turner, DD,[1] MA[2] was an eminent Anglican priest [3] in the first half of the 19th century.[4] He was Vicar of Abingdon[5] then Rector of Winslow[6] before being elevated to the Episcopate as Bishop of Calcutta in 1829. He died in post in the summer of 1831 and was interred on 8 July[7]
