The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra(JSO) is a symphony orchestra based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The symphony was founded in January 1929, and conducts a program of seven concerts from October to May. An annual opera festival began in 1992, and has featured many renowned performers including baritone Sherrill Milnes. The orchestra performs at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center.
Music Directors
Istvan Jaray, music director since 1983, is a Hungarian-born conductor who was a protégé of Otto-Werner Mueller.
