Motorcade of Generosity
Motorcade of Generosity is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Cake. It was released on February 7, 1994 through Capricorn Records label.
Release
In the band's March 12, 2008 newsletter Cake announced a re-issue of the album in the form of a "special edition value added Digipak configuration including bonus video content and a Motorcade decal", also mentioning a future release of the album on vinyl. The re-issue was, however, later pushed back. In the June 2nd fan newsletter, Cake announced Upbeat Record's June 9 re-release of Motorcade of Generosity. On January 14, 2009 a special limited edition orange vinyl re-issue of the album was made available for purchase on the band's official website. It sold out in two days. The band announced plans to release a black vinyl and CD re-issue in the spring.
Reception
Motorcade of Generosity has received a mixed-to-favorable response from critics. AllMusic critic Darryl Cater stated that "Cake's minimalist jams occasionally get repetitive." Nevertheless, Cater also noted that "there are enough standouts here to easily qualify Motorcade as a keeper."[1] Music reviewer Robert Christgau described the album as "unambiguity from the near side of cool."[2]
