Jon F. Vein is an American entertainment lawyer, Emmy Award-winning producer and business executive. He served as the chief operating officer of Film Roman, an animation production company, followed by Artist Management Group and the Artist Production Group, where he oversaw their 2002 mergers with The Firm, Inc.. He is the founder of MarketShare, a cloud-based marketing analytics company, now a subsidiary of Neustar.
Early life
Jon F. Vein graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.[1] He received a juris doctor from the Harvard Law School.[1]
Career
Vein co-founded Dern & Vein, an entertainment law firm based in Los Angeles with Dixon Dern.[2]
Vein served as the chief operating officer of Film Roman, an animation production company based in Los Angeles.[1] He won an Emmy Award for his work on The Simpsons in 2001.[3] He was also nominated for his work on King of the Hill, but he lost.[3]
Vein subsequently served as the chief marketing officer of Artist Management Group and the Artist Production Group, two companies based in Los Angeles and founded by Michael Ovitz.[1] As COO, Vein helped both companies merge with The Firm, Inc. in 2002.[1]
Vein is the co-founder of MarketShare, a cloud-based marketing analytics company based in Westwood, alongside Wes Nichols.[1][4][5] The company uses regression analysis.[4] According to the Los Angeles Business Journal, "The company’s clients include MasterCard, Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and Intel Corp."[4] He served as its chief executive officer and managing partner until he sold it to Neustar for US$450 million in 2015.[1][4][5]
Vein serves as the president of the Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development Board.[2] He is a member of the Los Angeles and Golden West chapters of the World Presidents’ Organization, an organization of former members of the Young Presidents' Organization.[6]
Personal life
Vein is married to Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, the co-founder of the Gotham Group, a television animation company. They have a son, Jack, and a daughter, Caroline.[6] They reside in Hancock Park, Los Angeles, California.[7] They hosted a US$2,700 fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign on February 22, 2016.[8][9]
