Jonathan Parker (born September 25, 1991) is an American-born professional hockey player[1][2] currently contracted to the Brampton Beast of the ECHL.

Playing career

In 2010–11 Parker became the highest scoring forward for the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) in 10 seasons, also going in the record books for most points by an American next to greats like Mike Modano. In 2011, following his teams playoff series loss, he made his pro debut with the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL). On October 6, 2011 he signed a three year entry level contract with the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. Parker was the first San Diego-born player ever to sign an NHL contract.

On March 5, 2014, Parker, along with his teammate Brayden McNabb, and two draft picks, were traded by the Buffalo Sabres to the Los Angeles Kings for right winger Hudson Fasching and defenseman Nicolas Deslauriers.[3]

At the completion of his contract, Parker was released to free agency by the Kings. He signed a contract with Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan club, Malmö Redhawks, on August 7, 2014.[4] He mutually terminated his contract agreement with Malmo on August 31, without featuring for the club. On September 25, 2014, his 23rd birthday, Parker signed a one-year contract to return to the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL.[5]

On August 11, 2015, Parker continued in the ECHL, signing as a free agent to a one-year contract with the Reading Royals.[6] Parker opened the 2015–16 season playing in two games with the Royals before he was traded to the Allen Americans in exchange for Kevin Young on October 19, 2015.[7] On February 8, 2016, Parker was traded to the Brampton Beast.[8]
