Joongdong High School (Hangeul: 중동고등학교, Hanja: 中東高等學校), located in the irwon-dong, Gan-Nam-Gu, Seoul, is one of the oldest and one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Korea.
Joongdong High School is a private school founded in 1906 with the faith in saving the country against Japanese Imperial rule.
The school and its foundation were undertaken in 1994 by Samsung Group by the will of group's founder, Lee Byung-chull, the school's 26th graduate.
It is currently operated by the Joongdong Educational Foundation.
Reputation
Joongdong High School students ranked #1 to be offered to enter Seoul National University (Best prestigious university in Korea) in 2011.
Over 100 students get an offer from Korea top three universities Seoul National University, Yonsei University and Korea University.
Admissions
By the law of private school education, Joongdong High School was selected to be a private-operated high school above numerous other school.
The students who have Top 50% GPA in their middle school are allowed to apply to Joongdong High School since 2014, and now there is no qualification for appliance. Students who applied for the school are interviewed and those who got a good result on the interview can enter the school.
