Joseph Dean, Baron Dean of Beswick
Joseph Jabez Dean, Baron Dean of Beswick (3 June 1923 – 26 February 1999) was a British Labour Party politician.
At the February 1974 general election, Dean was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds West. In the House of Commons, he was an assistant government whip from 1978 to 1979.
He served until the 1983 general election when he unexpectedly lost his seat to the Liberal candidate Michael Meadowcroft.[1]
In September 1983, he was given a life peerage as Baron Dean of Beswick, of West Leeds in the County of West Yorkshire.
