Joseph Patrick Dwyer was an American soldier, who became famous for a photograph of him helping an ailing Iraqi boy. Dwyer had enrolled himself in the US military after 9/11 and was stationed in Iraq. He died on June 28, 2008 due to excessive inhalation of Dust-Off, an aerosol spray meant to clean electronic equipment, which he used as a sedative. He was said to have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.[1][2]
