Joseph Siravo (born February 12, 1957) is an American actor known for his role as Johnny ("Johnny Boy") Soprano on the HBO series, The Sopranos.
Education and career
Siravo is a graduate of both Stanford University and New York University's Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts.[1]
Siravo's screen debut was in the 1993 film, Carlito's Way. Cast in the role of main antagonist Vincent 'Vinnie' Taglialucci, his character seeks revenge for the death of his father and brother at the hands of a corrupt lawyer (Sean Penn) while accusting Carlito Brigante, played by Al Pacino, of assisting in the murder.
He was cast in 1999 to play the role of "Johnny Boy" Soprano, father of Tony Soprano, on The Sopranos. His character was included in five episodes during the series' run.
Siravo portrayed mobster John Gotti in the 2015 film The Wannabe as well as Gene Gotti in the 1998 made-for-TV film Witness to the Mob. Also on television, Siravo portrayed Fred Goldman, father of murder victim Ronald Goldman, in the 2016 FX miniseries, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
On stage, Siravo played more than 1,000 performances as Gyp DeCarlo in the first national tour of "Jersey Boys".
