Joy John Antony is an Indian Television presenter, Actor, Mimicry artist, Script writer, Stage actor and Stand up comedian. He made his debut through "Kursuthi Kuruppu", a show from Kochi’s City Channel and gained popularity though adventurous show Tenali raman and Vaalkannady. He was awarded as the best Television presenter in Minnalai Film and Television Awards 2014.[1][2] Recently he had done a supportive role in an upcoming Tamil Movie "Santhithen Unnai".
Early life and background
Joy was born at Chemmakkadu, Kollam, Kerala as the only son of John Antony and Victoria Powleena. He had his schooling from GHS Perinad and afterwards attained master's degree from Fatima Mata National College, Kollam in the year 1997. He then migrated to Kochi for doing degree in Law at Maharaja’s Law College, Ernakulam [1997-2000].
In his schooldays itself, Joy practiced mimicking and participated local programs. During his college days, he was a regular participant in the State Youth Festivals, where he gained many prizes. He was the winner for Mimicry in 1995 Kerala University Youth Festival and 1997-98 MG University Youth Festival.
Personal life
Joy John married Nishamol James, a Fashion Designer by profession, who also ails from Kollam and has a daughter Alfia N Joy. Now settled in Ernakulam, Joy is also practicing as an Advocate at Kerala High Court.
Career
He started his Television career as a host in shows "Kuruthikkuruppu" and "Campus Flash" [1998-2000] by City Channel, the local cable channel of Cochin. And this program gave him an entry to the Main Channels in Kerala.
He then hosted… "Tenali Raman" [2000-2001], an adventure based program aired by Kairali TV and "Vaalkannady" [2000-2005]… the first ever family reality show by Asianet. Joy had successfully done various programs in different channels like, "Crazy TV" (his appearance as Censor Board Kochunni was an acclaimed one in which he pointed out the mistakes in movies), "Catch Bethalam" (interactive game show in various make overs), "Campus Chillies", "Star Singer", etc., He is currently doing "Humorous Talk Show" in Asianet Plus. He had also been a part in various mega events like Asianet Film Awards and Asianet Plus Events
Joy John made his film debut through …. LollyPop. Later he acted in Malayalam many Malayalam movies. He has now entered Tamil film world through Santhithen Unnai.
He is also initiating a Stage Show named "Chilly's Super Show" which include interactive hilarious game performances where the spectators also become a part in the show, along with music, songs and stand-up comedies.
