Joyce Brown (netballer)

Joyce Alice Brown, OAM[1] (born 1938)[2] is an Australian netball player and coach, who has both coached and captained the Australia national netball team.

Playing career

Brown played netball with Victoria from 1958 to 1963 and went on to captain the winning Australian team at the 1963 World Netball Championships. After this she went on to become a coach and umpire.[3]

Coaching career

As coach of the All Australian team Brown led the nation to world championship titles three times:[3]

In 1990 Joyce became Australia's first full-time national coach. She also coached for the Victoria State team from 1972 to 1975 and again in 1979.
