Juan Cohen

Juan Alberto Cohen Sander (14 June 1960,) is a Dominican economist, politician, businessman, and member of parliament. He is presidential candidate of the Dominican Republic by the Public Will National Party for the next general election scheduled on 15 May 2016.

Biography

Cohen was born on the 14th of June, 1960 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is married to María Marmolejos since 1985, with whom he has 3 children: Manuel Alberto, Juan Alberto and María de Dios.

He studied economics at Pedro Henríquez Ureña University. He earned a Master of Economics at the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Teacher and studies Political Science at the University Pedro Henríquez Ureña. Specialised in Finances at the Arthur D. Little School of Management of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USES and Business Management at Harvard University.

At present, he is Deputy before  the Central American Parliament for the period 2010-2016, where he serves as President of the Commission of Tourism of the aforementioned parliament.

He has been president of the Dominican Federation of Golf, where he executed important contributions to the development of golf in the Dominican Republic (2008-2014).[1]

In the 2014 he was reelected President of the National Party of Veterans and Civilians and in March of the 2015 was elect presidential candidate by the Public Will National Party, in the XXXVII National Assembly Extraordinary.[2][3]

He has also handled important media in the Dominican Republic.[4]
