Julia Cheiffetz (born September 18, 1978) is an Executive Editor at HarperCollins, a division of News Corporation where she has published Harold Bloom, Stanley Fish, Greg Graffin, Erica Jong, Gayle Tzemach Lemmon, Stephen Marche and Sam Wasson, whose breakout bestseller 5th Avenue, 5AM was widely acclaimed.[1] In 2008, Cheiffetz acquired Devil in the Grove by Gilbert King which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction.[2] She is currently editing Notorious RBG by Irin Carmon. Cheiffetz was the Editorial Director of Amazon Publishing.[3] from 2011-2014 where she published Deepak Chopra, Timothy Ferriss, Penny Marshall, and Jessica Valenti. At Amazon, Cheiffetz led the New York City based adult trade publishing team under Larry Kirshbaum. Cheiffetz resigned from Amazon in July, 2013. Shortly after her departure other editors left the company.[4] From 2002 to 2008 Cheiffetz was an Editor at Random House where she published the controversial anthology This Is Not Chick Lit and the debut works of many writers including Karen Abbott[5] and Ed Park. She is on the Board of Directors of the Lower East Side Girls Club.[6] She is married to Thomas Henry Walker.[7]
