Julie Ward (born 7 March 1957) is a British Member of the European Parliament for the North West England region for the Labour Party. She was elected in 2014.[1]

She is an active campaigner for equal rights and social justice, most recently organising local events for One Billion Rising, the global movement to raise awareness of violence against women and girls.

Prior to being elected as an MEP, she had been working with partners in the EU and beyond, for more than a decade. Including an international delegation to Belfast to participate in an all-party discussion about the role of the arts in peace-building processes.[2]

She was third on the Labour Party list for the European Parliament in the 2014 elections to the European Parliament and was elected with Labour taking a third seat from the Lib Dems in the North West England region.

Personal life

She went to university for the first time in 2009 and enrolled on a Masters’ course at Newcastle University, studying Education and International Development, graduating in 2012.
